Give it a Go
Give It A Go is a great program provided by the union to allow people to do exactly what it says on the tin, give it a go! It facilitates non-club members to try a new sport or activity with no obligation to further participation but at the same time, the chance to spark a lifetime of interest.
For the first time last year, the Equestrian Club ran a Give It A Go event. This involved providing the opportunity for non-members to experience riding and affording them the chance to interact with horses. Our first event was a basic stable management session and lesson. It sold out within days and far in advance of the event so we had a lot to live up to! The participants were given a horse to groom and tack up, with the help of club members, and then had an introductory lesson where they learnt the correct seat, steering, stopping and also having a little trot! The event was a great success with all participants thoroughly enjoying it.
We hope to continue this great success and have already scheduled another intro session for September. We are also organising a polo GIAG which should be fantastic.
All Give It A Go events are open to everybody so even if you are a member, you can buy a ticket or get your friends to join in and take part in our fantastic sport.
Please keep an eye out for updates on events and tickets here as well as in the Give it a Go brochures around the union. When available, tickets can be purchased from the Student's Union Box Office online or in the union. We are also very welcoming of any volunteers to help at GIAG events, they wouldn’t be as good without the help of our members!
