There are a number of opportunities to volunteer with the Equestrian Club while studying at Sheffield. Our main involvement in the past has been with the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA). More recently, we have become involved with volunteering at Whirlow Hall Farm and this coming year (2017/18).

Whirow Hall Farm:
Whirlow Hall Farm is a great charity based in Sheffield which provides a real farm experience for children and young adults, many from disadvantaged areas. As volunteers we tack the horses up and help out with pony rides, as well as having the opportunity to help with other events throughout the year. The farm is super easy to get to by bus and sessions last around 3 hours. We are hoping there are going to be lots of committed members of the club who will go and volunteer with this great cause!
Check out the volunteering facebook page for more details and regular volunteering updates!
Many of our members also raise money for charities in South Yorkshire through Sheffield Raising And Giving (RAG). The university organises several sponsored events during the year, including cake sales and the Spiderwalk which is a 13-mile night walk through Sheffield and the Peaks. This may sound daunting, but taking part with the Equestrian Club guarantees you an unforgettable experience complete with a firework display and free pub meal! Particularly if you can't commit to regular volunteering, this is really worth taking part in because 50% of what we raise goes back to the club to help fund more equine activities!
If you would like to know any more about volunteering or want to get involved, just email Jacinta with the subject 'Volunteering' and we'll get back to you.
