Volunteering & FundraisingAll our members are encouraged to take part in the volunteering and fundraising opportunities within the club. Past volunteering opportunities range from RDA work to local animal sanctuaries. We also fundraise for RDA and other charities, by bake sales and sponsored events such as the Colour Run. In 2017/18 the club produced its first charity naked calendar, which even made it into Horse & Hound! Watch this space for more information about volunteering and fundraising for the coming academic year!
Spiderwalk 2018 Following on from last year, SUEC is taking part in the Spiderwalk again this November to help fundraise for local South Yorkshire Charities. The Spiderwalk is a 13 mile half marathon hike through the peaks at night, with a bar, BBQ and live music at the half way point - this fundraising event is a great way of both supporting the local area and spending some time with other members of the society! The Spiderwalk takes place on the night of Thursday 1st November. We start at the Activities and Sports zone in the SU at 6pm where we will be registered and given our map etc before heading off for the night! Tickets cost £8.80 - this covers food, a Hi vis jacket, map, entry to the live music, plus your number and registration for the event. Money is going to be raised through a shared just giving page for everyone taking part, which will be active within the next few days. More information can be found on the Facebook page here |
